On June 1st, 2020, the Indonesian Carmelite students started the Laudato Si’ 5th Anniversary Celebration. They initiated it with a care for those in need. They raised fund to do some charitable works.
In the morning at 08.00 -10.00 a.m. the students went around the neighborhood to visit the houses of the poor. They greeted, had short chat with them and distributed packages of daily needs (rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, noodle and soy sauce).
Then at 10.00-13.00 they all cooked food for a nursing home for mentally retarded people in Malang, Indonesia and for homeless people living on the streets in Malang. They made soup and fried noodle for the mentally retarded people. They prepared 220 food packages of yellow rice.
After lunch, at 13.00-16.00 the students were preparing the food packages while some other students went to the nursing home to send the soup and the fried noodle.
At 16.30 they joined the mass with the Prior Provincial who supported this activity. After the mass, they all spread out to distribute the food packages to people in need.
