The Diocese of Salamanca joins the celebration of Time of Creation

Xabier Pikaza and Father Eduardo Agosta inaugurate the activities with a conference to be held this Friday, September 11, at 8:30 p.m. in the Old Cathedral

From September 1 to October 4, Christians from all over the world come together to pray and act for creation, in what they have called “The Time of Creation. A time that was inaugurated last September 1st with the annual World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, an ecumenical celebration of prayer and action for our common home that this year has been framed in the fifth anniversary of the publication of the encyclical Laudado Si’; and ends on October 4th, in the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology.

The Diocesan Pastoral through the diocesan Laudato Si’ Circle, in collaboration with the Carmelite Order of Salamanca and the World Catholic Movement for the Climate, join this Time of Creation by organizing a conference entitled: “Ecology, Spirituality and the Bible. From the pandemic to climate change“, which will be given by the theologian, Xabier Pikaza, and the Carmelite religious, Fr. Eduardo Agosta, an expert in climate variability. The event will take place on Friday, September 11, at 8:30 pm, in the Old Cathedral. Seating is limited and those interested in attending should send an email to: ong.carmelita@zohomail.eu

The conference will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Diocese of Salamanca.

Now more than ever committed to our common home

This conference is the first of three events organized by the diocesan Laudate Circle Si’ Circle to celebrate Time of Creation.  The next event consists of the broadcasting on social networks of some short videos of reading and meditation of Pope Francis’ encyclical on the care of the common house (Laudato Si’).

And, the third moment, by way of closing Time of Creation, will be an hour of prayer and meditation on the care of the Earth, and which has as its motto: “Now more than ever committed to our common home. It will take place on Sunday, October 4, at 8:00 p.m. in the parish of La Purisima.
