JPIC February 2020 Newsletter, Australia

New release of JPCI 2020 Newsletter from Australia

Greetings all,

It feels as if we Australians have been hit by so much destruction our vulnerability and frustrations can prevent us from valuing the treasure we have in our Christian and Carmelite way of life. As we make sense of the destruction we turn to the Divine Presence in prayer to find some consolation or a way forward.  We can face the clarity of injustice with maturity and sincerity and a belief that prayer gives us a centre to our being and courage to be ourselves.

Great saints were and are women and men of courage steeped in the conviction that life is lived in each moment and each moment holds out the possibility for each of us to build a better world. God’s intrusion might well be that the act of prayer helps us face the truth and therefore prevents us from entering a place of hopelessness.

To begin 2020, we offer this reflection from Peter Thomas, parishioner of Middle Park Parish, Melbourne and member of the JPIC Team.

Gabrielle Fogarty,

Melbourne.

We open now to a peace that passes all understanding, discovered not only in that rare state of a still mind but also in the midst of chaos, in the disequilibrium of growth, in the push and pull of circumstance – and through it all, an awareness that is not rattled, but rather, deeply curious. “If Darwin Prayed”, by Bruce Sanguin.
