Harry, O.Carm.<br \/><\/strong>President<\/p><p>Fr. William was appointed as the second president of the Carmelite NGO on April 2, 2025. He previously served as a member of the Carmelite NGO Board from 2002 until 2019. During those years, he focused primarily on communications for the organizations\u2014particularly with the website and <em>CarmeNGO<\/em>. He also participated in several of the annual UN DPI meetings in New York as well as one in both Bonn and Paris. He also represented the Carmelite NGO at the Doha Review Conference on Financing for Development in 2008.<\/p><p>His ministries as a Carmelite have focused on education, administration, and communications. As a young Carmelite he taught a variety of subjects and was the campus minister at the Carmelite secondary school in Tucson, Arizona. He worked in school administration for 10 years, and then provincial administration. Beginning in 2001, he served six years in Rome on the General Council of the Order. He currently is the director of communications for the Order and his home province\u2019s publishing house. Eduardo has worked with the Carmelite NGO on several levels since 2010, focusing on climate change. He heads the Department of Integral Ecology of the Spanish Episcopal Conference and is a visiting researcher in climatology at the University of Valencia. He is also part of the Chair of Integral Ecology at the Catholic University of Valencia. His work focuses on climate variability, atmospheric teleconnections and large-scale climate factors, as well as the relationship between climate science and integral ecology from a theological perspective. He holds a degree in Physics, specializing in Atmospheric Sciences, and obtained his PhD in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires in 2006.<\/p><p>Eduardo has published scientific articles and written book chapters on the relationship between science, faith, spirituality, and ecology. Since 2016, he has collaborated as an external expert for the Pontifical Council for Integral Human Development and represented CELAM at climate meetings of the Holy See. He was part of the Vatican delegation at the COP27 and COP28 climate summits. He has represented the Carmelite NGO at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. He is also a member of the Carmelite Order&#8217;s International Commission for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation. Hariwan Adji was elected as the vice prior general of the Carmelite Order in 2025. He has been involved in peace and justice issues for many years. He was the representative of the Asian area to the Carmelite NGO from 2006-2024. He was also head of the Indonesian Carmelite NGO from 2010 until his election as vice general. He also served as a member of the Order\u2019s Justice and Peace and Integrity of Creation Commission from 2013-2025.<\/p><p>For over 30 years, Fr. Hariawan was lecturer at the Airlangga University in Surabaya, Indonesia (1992 &#8211; present). From 1993-2000, he was the director of Studies at Access English Centre, also in Surabaya.<\/p><p>He was prior provincial of the Indonesian Province from 2022 until his election as vice general. Prior to that he served as vice prior provincial of the province the previous six years.<\/p><p>He holds three Bachelor degrees: in English Linguistics (1992), in Industrial Management (1993), and in Christian Philosophy and Theology (2006). He also holds Masters degrees in Biostatistics (2000) and Christian Philosophy and Theology (2009). His lifelong commitment to peace and justice\u2014and his activism\u2014connected him with Sr. Jane Remson, the first president of the Carmelite NGO, many years ago. She invited him to serve in the NGO in 2015 and he welcomed the opportunity.&#8221; His work in education specializes in issues pertaining to social inequality, health care, political economy, social action, and public policy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>Dr. Kalob serves as the director of the Carmelite Order\u2019s Most Pure Heart of Mary Province\u2019s <em>Laudato Si\u2019 Action Plan<\/em>, a strategic effort developed by the Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) Commission of the province aimed at integrating Pope Francis\u2019 call to care for our common home into the daily life and ministry of the Carmelites.\u00a0<\/p><p>As chief administrative officer, he facilitates the visits of members of the Carmelite NGO to the UN headquarters in New York as well as attendance of members at UN meetings in various parts of the world.
